About Us
Gayan Samaj Deval Club of Kolhapur, is an Educational Charitable Public Trust, established with the
objective to preserve, promote and propagate further the heritage of Indian Classical Music, Dance and
Drama.
It is formed by the amalgamation of two institutions namely Karveer Gayan Samaj, established in 1883
and Deval Club, established in 1893. The amalgamation took place in the year 1946, the aims and
objectives of both the institutions being the same.
A large art loving cross section of the society is always anxious to join the Club. The institute offers
them various options of membership, such as, (1) Honorable Patron ship, (2) Patron ship, (3) Life
Membership and (4) Annual General Membership. As on today, the total strength of membership is
around 500.
Gayan Samaj Deval Club of Kolhapur, is duly registered under The Bombay Public Trusts Act 1950 and
also under The Societies Registration Act, 1860, the registration no being 7E/1883(KPR).

Aims and Objectives
The aims and objects of Gayan Samaj Deval Club are:
To preserve, promote and propagate performing arts, particularly Indian Classical Music, Dance and Drama.

To promote amongst youth and children the interest of classical music, dance and drama.

To impart methodical training of classical music, dance and drama and to promote and propagate ‘Guru-Shishya Parampara’, the soul of Indian Music tradition and the proven method for developing new generations of performing artists.

To develop and make available various facilities such as classrooms, practice hall, recording studio, stage, auditorium and accommodation for students as well as the visiting artists and teachers.

To develop a Reference Library of books, articles, photographs and audio/video recordings, to create and preserve archives and to promote research and documentation,

To felicitate the artists and teachers for their contribution and to undertake activities for their welfare.

To create awareness and liking amidst members, as well as in the society, about musicology, dramatics and allied arts.
