Karveer Gayan Samaj Club was established in 1883 on the initiative of Vishwanathrao Gokhale, Trimbakrao Datar, Govindrao Deval, Natu Faujdar and Bhausaheb Limaye. The institute was started by renting two rooms at Rajaram College in Kolhapur for a monthly subscription of four annas. Keshavbuwa Gogte, Pakhwaji Shivrambuwa Shaligram, Appaiyabuwa, Balubuwa Gulwani, Bhausaheb Kagwadkar used to sing here regularly.
All-round singer-songwriter and singer Bhaskarbuva Bakhale's song from Kolhapur was organized here for the first time. In the course of time, this journey of singing slowed down a bit. But in the minds of the tax collectors, this song had made a home. In 1893, Baba Deval and Visubhau Gokhale, Trimbakrao Datar rented a room and started a new singing program.
At this time, this place became an attraction for all the singers in the musical theater as well as Chinnyayaswamy, Rajabali, Alladiyakhansaheb, Haider Khansaheb, Abdul Karimkhansaheb, Govindrao Tembe. As Baba Deval started living there, the place became known as Deval Club. In 1946, due to the duality between Karveer Gayan Samaj and Deval Club, the organization was renamed as Gayan Samaj Deval Club.
